Inauguration of “Rue Pau Casals” at Boulogne-Billancourt

Inauguration of “Rue Pau Casals” at Boulogne-Billancourt On the past 21st February, the street called Rue Pau Casals was inaugurated in the municipality of Boulogne-Billancourt, south of Paris, as a tribute to the universal musician.

The initiative arose from the property developer Restaura, which acquired seventeen buildings there for their restoration in 2004. The inauguration ceremony of the street was attended by numerous representatives of the social, cultural and political life of France and Catalonia, including the Catalan Minister of Culture and Communication Media, Mr. Joan Manel Tresserras; the former President of the Catalan Government, Mr. Jordi Pujol; Pau Casals’ widow, Mrs. Marta Casals, and various representatives of the Pau Casals Foundation and of the town of El Vendrell. Likewise, a statue of the Maestro by the Catalan artist Àlvar Suñol was unveiled at Rue Pau Casals, and rose bushes of the Pau Casals variety, provided by the Town Council of El Vendrell, were planted in a garden along the street.
