GRANT-WINNERS CONCERT OF THE PAU CASALS FOUNDATION At 10 p.m. on the coming 29th May, the Pau Casals Auditorium of El Vendrell will be the scene of the Grant-Winners Concert of the Pau Casals Foundation, with the symphony orchestra Camerata XXI, conducted by Tobias Gossmann, and the cellist and Pau Casals Foundation grant-winner Òscar Alabau. They will be performing works by J .C. Arriaga, Tchaikovsky and Beethoven.

Òscar Alabau Fernández was born in Barcelona in 1988. He began his cello studies at a very early age with his father, Joaquim Alabau, and with Iñaki Etxepare. When he was 14 years old he continued his studies at the Oriol Martorell arts secondary school with the professor Josep Pazos and later at the Higher Music Conservatory of the Liceu with Amparo Lacruz. At present he is carrying out undergraduate studies at London’s Guildhall School of Music and Drama with the professor Louise Hopkins. Òscar Alabau Fernández has taken part in numerous international festivals and has performed as a soloist throughout Catalonia and England. He has won the Pau Casals Foundation Grant for the periods 2006-2007, 2007-2008 and 2008-2009.
